Which eyeshadow palette should i get?

I like doing a lot of strange neon and dark eyeshadows, and i was wondering which palette is best?


i was reading other people's questions and everyone seems to love Coastal Scents 88 Palette.





So my choices are between, any Coastal Scents Palette (shimmer or matte? which is better)





Or the Beauties Factory 120 Palette

I got the coastal scents shimmer. I fricken love it. I use allmost all the colors and there soo pigmented. But you should also get two faced - insurance or urban decay- primary potion. Defitnetly the first one. It has more goldish looking colors and browns that go well with brown eyes.The other colors would go well with someone with lighter eyes. It really depends too on the color of your skin. Ifyou are pale then the second is for you.

I would go with the ';warm palette';, because I think thaty dark brown eyes look beautiful in softer colours- like pale pink and almond.





Go for the ';doe eye'; look-soft and natural with long lashes, perhaps even false eyelashes- Bee-U-Tee- Full!
Dark brown eyes look best in EVERY color in my opinion, and I would get the 88, because there is such a big selection. The warm one has nuetrals in it too, so its like both of those palettes combines into one

Which eyeshadow palette should I buy? ?

I'm just starting with makeup, and I own pretty much no eyeshadows, so I was thinking I would buy an eyeshadow palette to get a lot of colors for not too much money. But now I have a dilemma as to WHAT palette to get. Here are my two options:





- The Coastal Scents 88 palettes, one that's matte/satin, and one that's shimmer. They're about 20-25 bucks each, plus 8 bucks for shipping.





- A 120 non-branded palette off eBay, which costs 22 bucks and has free shipping.





Now, the two Coastal Scents palette add up to a lot more than 120, but they're a lot more expensive. The brand is reliable, and while the 120 seems legit and was recommended by a really good makeup artist on YouTube, I still feel a little uneasy about the lack of brand.





So what do you think? The Coastal Scents 88 palettes have been recommended countless times on the Internet as well.Which eyeshadow palette should I buy? ?
Well why dont you see if their are any reviews on the 120 palette and if theirs not i'd go for costal scents mainly because if costal scents are 20-25 and the non branded ones are 22 at least you know that the coastal scents will be good. Also why dont you just buy 1 coastal scents palette just to see if you like them.

i would recemnd the coastel scents because the eyeshadows probally have better pay off and when your buying the coastel scents eyeshadow palltete theer are two kinds...im sure your aware of this but they have shimmer and matte personaly i would start off with matte colors but know that i think about it when i started makeup i liked shimmery colors now i dont so it depends on what you think!
I would recommendd the coastal scents palettes. They are very highly pigmented. The packaging is great too so your shadows don't come broken. I ordered a palette from ebay and when it came some of my shadows were broken, so it got mixed in with the othereye shadowss which really sucked. =(

That actually isn't a MAC product. If you look closely at the shadows you can see that they are slightly piled and rounded, MAC shadows lay completely flat in their pans. You can however purchase empty MAC palettes with 15 empty slots. Buying them for the palette does make the cost come down on each individual shadow.M-A-C cosmetic eyeshadow palette!?

Are they all made by the same company? It appears that they are, which will mean they are roughly the same in terms of quality, however, the first set claims to be ';highly pigmented';. This is a good thing, as it means you will get a strong, deep color when applying it, and you won't have to layer it on to get it noticeable. On this basis, I would buy the first. Eyeshadow palette question?

Okay, so for my birthday im going to ask for the coastal scents eyeshadow 88 makeup palette. It looks really cool and it has many different colors, and since I love eyeshadow it seems like the perfect product for me! The only thing is, Im not sure which one to get! There are two versions, the ultra-shimmer one and the regular. Which one should I get?? I like shimmery colors, but my makeup style isn't really out-there. Im a freshman in high school if that helps at all, and im kinda girly girl but not a lot. Is the shimmery one, like, TOO shimmery? or a subtle shimmer? (thats what im going for) Anyone that has had this before please help!! The regular one is frequently out of stock and im getting a bit impatient. Which do you think I should go for? (please dont say both i can only get one)





ps. i heard many ppl complain about coastal scent's shipping, and that sometimes the palette arrives with some of the eyeshadow broken/cracked. I just got it as a surprise in the mail today! My boyfriend sent it to me. :)


I got the shimmer palette, and the colors aren't glittery, they are just shimmery. They are really pretty. Unless you like matte colors, I would get the shimmer palette. It's not too obnoxious.


They colors blend so well and they are sooo pretty!


As far as shipping, it takes FOREVER to arrive, but none of my shadows are broken or cracked. A couple of the pots came out of the palette placement, but you can just glue them back. That's not a big deal or anything.


You can get it here. I just recommended it to another girl like two minutes ago. :)

This is AMAZING! It's great for beginners and the experienced alike. There are so many different colors for different skin tones. I'm relatively new to eye makeup, but this makes it soo easy! They're even great without a primer! You can't say that about too many eyeshadows. They're not too shimmery either, like I was worried about. Overall, this is a GREAT palette for everyone, especially for $25!

The shimmer isn't obnoxious at all. It's really pretty, and unless you're into more matte colors, if you like shimmery colors, then get the ultra-shimmer.

I actually have that palette,if you want to experiment with colors get the regular one because too much shimmer with bright colors doesn't look cool, it's looks gaudy.
hmm... i personally think you should go for the subtle shimmery one but if you want the other one i would tone every thing down by either wearing subtle make or simple close

I saw the advertisement for the eyeshadow palettes on youtube and was wondering if they're any good. Has anyone tried them out? I would love to read a review of them. They are as good as Coastal Scents, which is not saying much. They are made in China by the same company. You might want to try Ebay because ALL of these large palettes are exactly the same. There has been a lot of controversy over them about having sub standard ingredients.

I've been looking on ebay and I can't seem to find anything that looks good.

All the PRO palettes are pretty much the same, they are manufactured in the same place, then companies buy them and put their own logo on them. Myself, I haven't really dared to buy any makeup off ebay since most of the sellers are in China and Hong Kong, so I ordered mine from Coastal Scents. You'll have to pay a couple of dollars more but then at least you know that it's coming from a reputable seller that uses a secure server, and they have great customer support and an online forum where you can ask questions and share tips with other makeup junkies. They will replace your purchase if it arrives damaged and you know you're getting the real thing.


I love my pallets from there, I have the 88 matte, 28 neutral and 26 eye/blush combo. The color payoff is almost as good as my MAC shadows and they have great staying power. The 88 ones are a little small, about dime size, but with the intense pigmentation they'll still last you a long time. I use mine all the time.


Again, these PRO palettes are the only ones I'd buy from ebay, so much of the luxury brands there are fake. But again, I'd rather pay a couple bucks more and know that my purchase will arrive safely and in a timely manner. Good luck with your purchase!Has anyone bought eyeshadow palettes on Ebay?
Don't go with anyone on Ebay, go to youtube and type in fake mac on ebay and you will see why. People are getting scammed all over the place.





If you're interested in mac you can go to maccosmetics.com and pic out some things you want then call in your order, or so I hear. I haven't tried it yet. You can't order it online because you have to have some kind of membership.





I want to try NYX also, again just go directly to their websites it's not worth it to go to Ebay unless you know for a fact that person is a reputable seller. I don't know of one, but maybe someone on here does.
Stay away from mac palettes on ebay as most of them are fake from the far east. Mac only bring out ltd edition palettes twice a year. You're better off vising the Mac website and buying from there - more expensive but at least you know you're buying genuine and safely.

I would stay away from any palette with green in it, as green will detract from your eyes if you put it on. Personally I think ';courture in purples'; would really suit you, as purple seems to make green eyes ';pop';. I agree. Don't buy makeup from Claire's if you're looking for good quality. Try a brand that's specific for makeup.
you should try urban decay or mac. their makeup is high quality and the bright colors actually show up on your eyes.

Oh, and it's not eyeshadow, it's clown/stage/theatre makeup but people use it an an eyeshadow or eyeshadow base. I want that palette real bad, along with a Kryolan palette.

Well i would say just go to a store and get palettes of bright colors that all. just go and look at the ones that you like!!
Ebay has some really good 30 colour pallets you should check out, they work good on all skin tones.

MAC C.R.E.A.M. eyeshadow palette help!!!?

MAC eyeshadows have different names with each different shade. Does it have the name of the colors in the palette on it anywhere? I've been googling and searching but nothing seems to tell the color names. I don't want to end up buying the full size eyeshadow container if they're already in the palette.

Just wanted to let you know that the reason MAC shadows cost so much is because they are VERY PIGMENTED - the color of the shadow in the tin is the same when you apply it (using a primer). I'm sorry but they're def fake because mac doesn't do 12 color palettes and they don't even do cream eyeshadows. If it include a cheapo sponge applicator, that means its fake because mac doesn't even do sponce applicators. =( When you're buying MAC eyeshadows online, you should ask for the names of the eyeshadows. Oh and if they don't list their names on the listing, THAT IS DEF FAKE. So better be careful.

Ben it only looks like they where to much if they don't know how to put it on, so I agree with you there, Jennifer I've been a make-up artist and skin care specialist and sometime's model my whole life and one of my favorite lines is MAC cosmetics I also love Christian Dior I also love Loreal I'm one who mix's up a lot of different lines I've used Stilla before it's not as matte but sometimes I like a little silky especially with a tan, well I can go both ways with a tan it depends with what colors your wearing and if your just using a bronzer, I just wear so much less make-up in the summer I most of the time use a bronzer for my eyeshadow blush put on a lipstick with a liner and a lipgloss have my eyelashes dyed black (last for about 6 weeks) then you don't have to worry about mascara but I like to wer false eyelashes at night now thats an art so practice a lot oh and I just bought that knew spin brush mascara where you push the button and it twirls it's like the spin brush tooth brush this thing is awesome you have got to try it it's great, but cosmetics use to be my life, I love doing make-overs from natual to theatrical have fun and practice but remember start with a clean canvas meaning your skin always have the best skin and that means the best skin care and your make-up will look good use that apricot facial scrub at least 3x's a week to get all the dead skin off start with great skin and you will be all fresh and glowing and be sure to set everything in powder so it stays all day and lets see oh yeah always use sponges for blending and invest in brush's sable if you can blending is the most important can't stress that enough ok? hope I helped, Elizabeth xoxo

I want to purchase an eyeshadow palette with highly pigmented and extremely shimmery shadows. I got inspired by the victoria secret fashion show 2008 make up pics below to be specific to buy a shimmery eyeshadow palette. They are everything I hoped for when I bought it and more. All the colors are about the size of a dime, but they are so pigmented. I use a shade of brown every single day and I've hardly made a dent in it at all. Wonderful price, only like 19.95 if I'm correct. One of the best things I ever invested in. i have the matte and shimmer, and the shimmer palette is extremly shimmery and pigmented... but you should look for the 88 shimmer palette on ebay its cheaper... however you NEED a primer with these shadows

Depending on where you live, I would recommend going to a specialty beauty store (not like a Sally Beauty Supply). Go to one that specializes in professional products for modeling, print, stage and tv. There is a beauty store in my area that carries lines like Ben Nye, Joe Blasco and Cinema Secrets and they carry eyeshadow palettes like what you are describing.


They only other thing I can think of is those large Sephora palettes with like 30 colors in it, but the other ones will be MUCH better quality, especially if you are compiling a portfolio. If you can find a MAC store near you they should have something that you are looking for. Usually they are in Malls But do a search and hopefully you will find one.
Sephora, if you have one by you has a pallette with like 100 colors or more on it.
It depends on where you live. I am currently living in Chicago and working as a makeup artist, but you really need to give a few more details about what you want. You can go to a MAC store and find a really big palette of colors, but I'm not a huge fan of the MAC brand. The best eye shadows I have ever used is Urban Decay, but their palettes might be a bit smaller than you were thinking. Another one that isn't up to 40, is Two-Faced as well as the new Kat Von D brand. If you're looking for quality products, there really aren't any that are going to put that many of their products in testers sizes and kits, at least not open to the public. You might need to settle for buying a few kits with different colors in them. Check at your local Sephora, Ulta, Nordstroms, even Macy's. Check on some of the websites of your favorite brands and check their store location links. There might be a few makeup stores that are local to where you live. Try to go to a place that has a variety of brands. Good luck!

I vote non-shimmery, because that is more realistic for every day use. Then you can complement them with some shimmery eye shadows you can buy elsewhere, and you can only buy the colors you think you will use. First of all, whatever you decide to get, make sure you purchase it from ebay. Its cheaper, because you don't have to pay for shippping. Second, I would suggest getting the matte palette instead of the shimmer, since you normally do not wear a lot of makeup anyway. That way, you could use the colors anywhere you go whether it be work/school or out to a club. There are so many colors in this palette that you won't even have to buy any eyeshadow for awhile. The only thing you need is a primer. Without it, it doesn't last and the color payoff is less. Want to know something? I tested Coastal Scents. I put four eyeshadows on to swatch, with primer, and forgot to take it off. I got a shower, washed my hands numerous times, and went out in the hot sun and after a day? It was still on the next day!
Buy the non shimmery. It looks much more natural and is easier to combine with other colors without being obvious.
i would get the shimmery one, it just makes the eye makeup look better in my opinion.

Ok girls, I need advice on a decent eyeshadow palette.





I've been looking into the ben nye palette but the colors are all so bright, and granted I do love bright eyeshadow colors and wear them often but i'd like somthing with a little more variety than that, maybe some deeper colors/colors easier to wear with everyday clothes. Its hard to always wear such dramatic makeup with nowhere special to go. Laura, I love the shadows at aularale.com/7002 - you could start w/Island Breeze and Basic Elements. They all are great - long wearing and can be put on wet or dry.
I love Revlon ColorStay Eyeshadow Quads! They come in about 10 different palettes and in each, there are 4 strips of different colours- 1 base, 2 medium colours and 1 darker one. IMO, what's great about these eyeshadow quads are that the 4 colours in one palette complement each other and works well together. They also wear well and lasts (although not as long as it claims to) pretty long.





Pros:


- Affordable


- Lasts well.


- Highly pigmented


- Beautiful colours that work well together.


- Comes in 10 (I think) different colour palettes.





Cons:


- Strips are a bit smaller than I would prefer.


- Mediocre applicator and packaging.


- The finish of almost all of the eyeshadows are shimmery, no options for matte finish.

i know this doesn't sound like good quality but Clair's actually has some really good quality shadow palettes in a huge veriety of colors. they have very good payoff and some reall vibrant colors. they aren't expensive and then are (always) buy one get one 50% off so it's also a really good deal.
E.L.F. has some nice pallettes for only a dollar. I suggest buying it from drugstore.com because they'll ship it really fast and the elf site has been known not to ship things for weeks.

I have all of these palettes. I own two 120 palettes, the CS matte 88 palette, and the CS shimmer 88 palette. I would personally choose the 120 palette. First of all, when I first heard of Coastal Scents, I went crazy and bought 3 palettes on the spot. A day after I placed my first order, I was so excited I wanted to buy another palette so now I have 4 total Coastal Scents palettes. When I received them, I was so excited but when I tried them all out, my excitement turned into disappointment. They are pigmented but you have to “try” to get some color if that makes sense. I don’t think they’re that great. On the other hand, the 120 palette is super easy to blend. It’s purely amazing. All of my friends and family members have been amazed by this palette. Another thing is you can purchase the 120 palette on Ebay (where I purchased mine.) In the search engine, just type in “120 Pro Palette.” There are tons of sellers selling this palette and you can buy it anywhere from $.01 to $30.00. I actually bought it from the retailer you listed in your question (they have an Ebay account also.) I know they are the same company because they sent me a link to their site when I emailed them. They are located in Los Angeles, CA and the reason I bought my palette from them instead of another Ebay seller from China (most of the sellers selling this palette are from China) was because many customers had problems with the palette getting damaged while in transit. I figured that since I live in California, the chance of having a damaged palette would be less likely. When I received mine however, there was one shadow that was broken. I sent them an email and they sent out a new one right away. The new one had like 11 broken shadows though! Anyways, I recommend this seller because they give great customer service but your palette may still have a possibility of getting damaged in the mail. The sellers from China will likely send you a replacement palette for free too if your palette arrives damaged. If you buy it from a seller in China, it’ll probably be cheaper. Back to your question though.. I’d go with the 120 palette. You’ll get 32 more colors, better pigmented colors, and colors that are easier to blend. I don’t use any of my Coastal Scents palettes and will never buy palettes from them again –unless they improve their quality. I love their brushes though, but their palettes don’t measure up. I got the 88 palette and omg there are some colors I still haven't touch! I don't think you really need the 120 since the 88 provides you with a varieties of color already. I got the reg 88...mixture of matte and shimmer/satin colors....the 88 shimmer palette is way too shimmery for me.

MAC eyeshadow Palette?

Does MAC have an eyeshadow palette that actually COMES with eyeshadow? because they're so godd*** expensive for one little pot, I thought they should have a large pro palette that comes with a variety of colours. do they? because if so, I can't find it.MAC eyeshadow Palette?
MAC does have special collection palettes with four shadows in one palette. Other than those, you have to buy the palette and then buy each shadow and place them in the palette yourself. Buying the shadows that way does save you some money than buying them individually in their own container.MAC eyeshadow Palette?
Yes but you still have to purchase them separately. I have the twelve shadow palette. The case was 10 bucks and then the shadows are 10 bucks a piece instead of 14 bucks so you save money. I also have the quad holder and that one is $3.50 plus 10 bucks for each color in it. Its worth the money and you can take the shadows out when you want. You don't have to fill it all up at once. I get a new shadow to add to it like twice a month. Its fun like a little collectors hobby.
omg i know what you mean! i love MAC shadows, but they are sooo expensive for just one colour!





I reckon you should get a big eye shadow pallette from a slightly cheaper brand like Chi Chi (do you get that brand out of australia/nz? i dunno..) and then splurge on like 3 mac ones that are like AMAZING! so then you can use loads of different colours and finish with the awesome mac stuff.

Urban Decay makes GREAT palattes, especially if you're looking for something on the more dramatic side. Mac offers a palatte you can create yourself by going in and choosing your own colors. Eyelids red and little bit sore after putting on newly bought 88 color palette eyeshadow. help?

hey guys. i bought an 88 color palette yesterday and tried it on a few hours before i wrote this. the palette is similar to the coastal scents (coastalscents.com) and you can also find it on ebay.





alot of ppl use it. they recommend and talk highly of the product...





soooo... i bought myself one, and started my first try with a heavy layer of purple on my eyelids. when i removed them after a couple of hours, my eyelids appear to be red (not a major red, but a hint of the red) and were slightly, very slightly sore.





am i allergic to the ingredients? coz ive never had any allergic reactions in my life so i don't know how to tell whether its an allergic reaction... some one help me please..





plus, what can i do to rid of it? im scared if it could, COULD be worse%26gt;%26gt; like it'll lead to blindness *gasps*

Sounds like you are allergic to some of the ingredient. Take them back to the Store and let them know what happen. They may or may not offer you a refund or an exchange but they also can let the manufacturer know the side-effects. It could be systemic in the product. Be pro-active

How much product is in the $14.40 MAC eyeshadow versus the $11.00 MAC palette shadow?

There is no difference in size or the amount of product you receive.


When you buy the mac eyeshadow you are also paying for the container.


Thats why it costs more than the mac palette shadow.

Okay, the best quality color palettes you can get are from mac, no questions asked.





I think the reason you're seeing such cheap palettes is because the seller is not selling the eye shadows, just the plastic casing around them/palette.

There's this one that looks like it would go with almost all skin tones and you can use the colors for either day or night. This one is by far my favorite, it's one of those palettes with tons of different colors, 64 eye colors to be exact. Ben it only looks like they where to much if they don't know how to put it on, so I agree with you there, Jennifer I've been a make-up artist and skin care specialist and sometime's model my whole life and one of my favorite lines is MAC cosmetics I also love Christian Dior I also love Loreal I'm one who mix's up a lot of different lines I've used Stilla before it's not as matte but sometimes I like a little silky especially with a tan, well I can go both ways with a tan it depends with what colors your wearing and if your just using a bronzer, I just wear so much less make-up in the summer I most of the time use a bronzer for my eyeshadow blush put on a lipstick with a liner and a lipgloss have my eyelashes dyed black (last for about 6 weeks) then you don't have to worry about mascara but I like to wer false eyelashes at night now thats an art so practice a lot oh and I just bought that knew spin brush mascara where you push the button and it twirls it's like the spin brush tooth brush this thing is awesome you have got to try it it's great, but cosmetics use to be my life, I love doing make-overs from natual to theatrical have fun and practice but remember start with a clean canvas meaning your skin always have the best skin and that means the best skin care and your make-up will look good use that apricot facial scrub at least 3x's a week to get all the dead skin off start with great skin and you will be all fresh and glowing and be sure to set everything in powder so it stays all day and lets see oh yeah always use sponges for blending and invest in brush's sable if you can blending is the most important can't stress that enough ok? hope I helped, Elizabeth xoxo

1 or 2. it really depends on how you do your make-up and on what color eyes you have. i have dark brown eyes and i like smokey-eyed style make-up so i'd pick either 1 or 2 because the darker colors/earthy tones/and greens compliment darker eyes.

Faulty eyeshadow palette from Boots?

I just bought a No7 eyeshadow palette from Boots but when I got home the little screw thing had snapped off from the hinge and it's broke. On the receipt it says you cannot return cosmetics unless they are damaged, will I have any problems returning this and getting another one? I won't be able to go into Boots for a week or so though. It's there in your question - you can return it if it's damaged, which it is!





As long as you don't touch the makeup itself (so you can be clear that you haven't used it), you won't have a problem returning it. And if you do, then you need to keep pestering them until they give you a refund or an exchange - the law says that it must be fit for purpose at the time of sale, and if it's faulty then it doesn't conform to this necessity.Faulty eyeshadow palette from Boots?
Since they said ';you can only return cosmetics if they are damaged';, well, your eyeshadow was damaged! They should let you exchange it for another one as long as you have the receipt and it is clear that you haven't used the eyeshadow on your eyes yet.

everyone (including me) usually hears its a coastalscents.com product but really coastal scents just sells it along with many other distributors... ebay has it and iv heard people getting it cheaper than retail on CS website. i bought both shimmer and matte palletes and i say they are 7/10 on my skin tone. but its a good investment for the price. before you buy it go to ebay and look up 120 palette... i think i should have got that instead. from youtube vids it seems to be more pigmented!

i dont get any really expensive eyeshadows cuz i have to pay for my makeup and im only 14. =P i get revlon illuminance cream eye shadow.





what i like - its alllll sprakly =) but its not like BAM!...it feels really good on your eyelid =)....i LOOOVVEEE the colors...its cheap!!!





what i dont like - it creases. even with eye primer on. but i have really creasable eye lids haha so yeah...it rubs off pretty easily =\





its different for different people...like my friend has it and she thinks it stays on really good and only creases a lil bit and with primer it doesnt crease at all...so i guess it depends on your eye lid...?

How long can I use my eyeshadow palettes for?

I heard that cosmetics have expiry dates too... how many years can we use the same eyeshadow palettes for? One note is that I always make sure my brushes are clean before I dip into my eyeshadow, and my face is thoroughly washed before I use any makeup to ensure I don't contaminate my cosmetics when I use them. Does this routine give me extra years with my cosmetics?How long can I use my eyeshadow palettes for?
It's recommended that you replace eyeshadow every 3 years, but the likelyhood that you will get an eye infection from using your own ';expired'; shadow is extremely slim. In general,If makeup changes color, seperates badly, smells musty, or seems weird in any way you should toss it, but I don't think I would follow strict rules on makeup experation unless I had a history of eye infections or irritation.How long can I use my eyeshadow palettes for?
ive never heard of it, but may be wrong. you can probaly use it for about a year or 2
Even though they say there is bacteria in it if it's too old I've never had problems and I have eyeshadow and blush from 20 years ago, and have never had any problem. I also use the same mascara for a year.





Think about it, how many times do you rub your eyes with ';bacteria laden'; hands? Bacteria is every where and that's why your body develops immunities to it.





I'm sure they have to make the claim so they don't get sued and so you have to keep buying their products though.





If you're still concerned scrap off the top layer with a clean make up spatula.
i believe two or three years, im sure cleaning your brushes doesnt have any effect on how long your make up will last

Truthfully it depends on the quality of the cosmetics that you buy. Are you shopping at Walmart or Dillards?

Ebay eyeshadow palette, what do you think?

I have bought two coastalscents palettes ( the 88 shimmer and matte palettes) as well as the 120 Manly palette on ebay. I was surfing coastalscents.com for a new palette when i read a comment stating that i could get the exact same palettes on ebay for a third of the price. and its true!





the manly palette was highly pigmented and i love it! but im still skeptical of the other palettes on ebay. although they look the same as coastalscents are they still safe? i figure coastalscents gets their shadows from china/korea/japan anyways, but am i right? any and all comments will help/
